Research and professional experience

Graduate Research Assistant

Research on optimal model order reduction of networked systems, with applications in modern heterogeneous power systems.

Technical Intern — Solar

  • Assessed solar energy projects up to 1.2 MW through pre-feasibility and detailed feasibility studies.
  • Reviewed energy generation estimates, equipment specifications, and financial plans through desk studies, simulations, and site visits.
  • Analyzed rooftop PV and solar-based EV charging projects for support through the Sustainable Energy Challenge Fund.

Research Assistant

  • Studied the impact of induction stove penetration on power quality in Nepalese distribution systems and developed harmonic prediction methods under a NAST Young Scientist Research Grant.
  • Organized “A Symposium on Renewable Revolution in Nepal: Today and Tomorrow,” supported by the University Grants Commission Nepal.

Research interests

My work lies at the intersection of control theory, power systems, and optimization. I am interested in the following questions:

  1. Can classical model order reduction methods be extended to address component heterogeneity, black-box dynamics, and increasingly blurred time-scale separations in modern power systems?
  2. Can we obtain accurate reduced-order models while preserving the underlying network topology and structural properties of the original system?
  3. Can optimization problems involving Lyapunov equality constraints be reformulated or solved more efficiently to improve scalability?

Publications

My publications cover model order reduction, virtual oscillator control, magnetic core loss prediction, and harmonic component prediction.
